Photography 64 x 89 cm 2016 Kolkata's Maidan in winter is its own kind of wonderland; the historic heart of football in my home city. That morning, walking through dense fog and smog, I heard them before I saw. The mist had stripped everything to its most elemental state i.e., two figures, a ball, their identities softened into something universal. I froze the moment mid-volley, the suspended ball holding everything together. Football, far removed from spectacle - intimate, unannounced, and instantly recognisable.
