Oil on canvas 40 x 30 cm 2026 Although I enjoy the football, as a people watcher and keen observer of the world around me, I find myself drawn to the culture around the match. The programme seller; the pre-match tension; the chanting that drifts across the stadium; the balti pie at half-time…I am also intrigued about the pre-match ritual of the mascots who emerge dressed in bizarre costumes that reflect the history of the club but more importantly that year’s club sponsors. A few shots at goal with the younger fans, the competition draw, a wave to the crowd, before they disappear again back down the tunnel…
