Silver gelatin print 50 x 50 x 3 cm 2024 Roman Manfredi is a lens-based artist. Using analogue photography, moving image and sound, Manfredi’s work explores the intersections of personal narratives and political landscapes through the everyday lived experience, often with a particular emphasis on LGBTQ+ perspectives and identities. Having discovered photography at 16, when she left school and went to work as a dark room assistant in a photography studio, Manfredi later studied fine art as a mature student at Byam Shaw School of Art/Central Saint Martin's and printmaking at Royal College of Art. Roman rediscovered a passion for analogue photography through a desire to represent her community.
