Oil on aluminium panel 100 x 43 x 5 cm 2025 Michael Sheldon is a Wirral-born, London-based artist working across portraiture and highly detailed urban landscapes. An award-winning artist, his work has been included in the Lunar Codex project, with a piece archived on the Moon. After studying art in his youth, Sheldon served eight years in the Royal Marines, including two tours of Afghanistan. These experiences continue to inform a practice grounded in observation, discipline, and a heightened awareness of atmosphere and presence. Working in both portraiture and cityscapes, he combines realism with elements of hyperrealism to explore memory, identity, and place—capturing both the psychological depth of individuals and the collective character of the urban environment.
