Within ubiquitous two-dimensional media, I discover a plane so ordinary, yet infinite. Somewhere in between, I encounter a form of nostalgia in the images – for times I never lived. They seem to communicate through a symbolism and language all their own. Be it the pixelation or the colours from a 1990s sports broadcast, or the young face of a now turned icon. Times of clarity, projected in retrospect. My work transforms found media, often on found materials, into painting, emphasising their artificiality – frequently through distortions. I juxtapose the resulting sense of speed, against the juggernaut of postmodern capitalist society.
