Oil on linen 40 x 40 x 4 cm 2021 Ian Robinson is a British painter whose work explores themes of memory, nostalgia and popular culture through meticulously observed oil paintings. Since studying painting at Wimbledon College of Art after moving from Northumberland to London in 2007, Robinson has developed a practice centred on collections, keepsakes and culturally significant objects. His football studies and other related works draw on memorabilia, programmes, magazines and treasured artefacts. Robinson is fascinated with the emotional connections between objects and their stories. Blending contemporary realism with a retro sensibility, Robinson’s paintings celebrate popular culture and aim's to hold collective storytelling and histories.
