My work is usually made outdoors in front of the subject. I choose places that are part of my everyday life: subjects that can be found anywhere and everywhere but also have an emotional charge. This painting is of the field behind my house where my kids spent many hours kicking a ball around. Football has always been a big part of my life (I was an amateur goalkeeper, playing until I was in my forties). I have made many paintings of football subjects usually derived from small pocket sketchbook drawings made on the touchline.
